Shapewear Brand

A direct-to-consumer shapewear brand selling compression bodysuits across the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, already running Meta in-house at serious volume. We took over Snapchat and TikTok for the peak new-year season and turned $382K of spend into $875K in Triple Whale-attributed revenue, a 2.29 blended ROAS, by testing UGC hooks every week and scaling only what cleared break-even.

// Challenge

The brand was already spending around $250–300K a month on Meta with its own team and wanted Snapchat and TikTok to carry real volume as well, without pulling the return below a break-even ROAS of roughly 1.6. The product sells on a before-and-after that only works on video, so everything depended on UGC, and UGC in this niche wears out fast: a hook that converted one week was tired the next. The platforms' own reporting was no help either. Snapchat showed a return well above what the store actually saw, so scaling on its dashboard would have meant scaling into a loss.

// What we did

0

Made Triple Whale the single source of truth for both channels: every scale and kill decision was read against its attributed purchases instead of Snapchat’s or TikTok’s own numbers, and reporting to the client in Slack ran on the same figures.

0

Kept testing and scaling apart so they never competed for budget: new creatives entered test campaigns on small budgets, and only proven winners were moved into dedicated scaling campaigns and ad sets, which is how a single Snapchat campaign ended up carrying $211K of the $223K spent.

0

Tested hooks rather than whole videos: UGC creators recorded interchangeable hooks and bodies, and our creative partner cut new combinations two to three times a week, so a tired opening could be replaced without reshooting the ad.

0

Ran both platforms on open auctions with no bid or cost caps: on TikTok we ran Smart+ campaigns alongside manual ones, and anything holding above break-even was allowed to scale with no spend ceiling.

0

Timed the push to the season: launched for the new-year body-goals window, when shapewear demand peaks, and put the heaviest spend into those weeks across five English-speaking markets.

// A WORD FROM THE TEAM

— Rosty C.

Founder, collaba.team

"On shapewear the product is the same in every ad. What changes is the first two seconds. We saw very quickly that a strong hook did more for conversion than any targeting change, so we stopped treating videos as finished assets and started treating the hook as the thing we test. The other lesson was discipline on attribution: Snapchat's own dashboard looked far better than what the store saw, and if we had scaled on it we would have scaled straight into a loss."

// KEY TAKEAWAY

Test the hook, not the ad

In UGC-driven e-commerce, creative fatigue is the real ceiling on spend, and the hook is what wears out first. Building ads from interchangeable hooks and bodies let us refresh every week without reshooting, and holding every scaling decision to third-party attribution kept that volume profitable.
