Power Tools Shop
Power Tools Shop is a British online retailer of professional power tools and accessories, selling Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita, Stanley and dozens of other brands from a Magento store. We launched their Meta Ads from nothing on £1,000 a month and scaled the channel to £487K of spend and £14.3M in Meta-attributed revenue, at a ROAS of 29.38 against a target of 10.

The shop already had organic search and email doing their job, and nothing at all on Meta: no product catalogue connected to an ad account, no purchase events Meta could optimize on, no campaign history to learn from. The brief was short and strict. Every pound had to come back at least ten times over, and the client judged that return in Google Analytics 4 rather than in Ads Manager, which gives Meta far less credit for a purchase that also passed through search or email. The starting budget was £1,000 a month, against a catalogue of thousands of products across dozens of brands.

Built the account from scratch on £1,000 a month: a product catalogue and pixel first, then just three campaigns, catalogue retargeting, catalogue prospecting and a campaign split by product category, so the first money went where purchase intent was already highest.
0
Added one layer at a time as the return held: dynamic remarketing, separate campaigns per brand, a promo campaign launched in the first week of every month, weekly posts promoted as Reels, and seasonal pushes for fans and air conditioners in spring and heaters in autumn, with the heaviest weight always on October through Christmas.
0
Made the catalogue sell harder without new photography: frames over the product images carrying Klarna buy now, pay later and discount badges, and product sets built from review data the client’s developers exported for us, so well-rated products carried that proof straight into the ad.
0
Went all in when the client took on a full Milwaukee range: a dedicated brand campaign returned 93.66 on £10,397 of spend, and Milwaukee catalogue ads ran at a ROAS of 24 to 30 while carrying far more budget.

Kept the numbers honest and the client close: implemented the Conversions API as soon as it became available, matched the orders Meta reported against the Magento admin by hand, and met the client every week to review results and agree the next tests, including TikTok, which paid back in TikTok’s own reporting but not in GA4 and was switched off.

"The client judged everything in GA4, and GA4 gives Meta very little credit when someone sees a drill in their feed, searches for it a week later and buys through Google. So Meta looked much smaller in their reports than it was in the business. I checked the orders Meta reported against the Magento admin by hand, and they were real orders. Given the go-ahead, I would have taken this account to £100,000 a month; it peaked at around £25,000 because that was the client's ceiling, not the channel's, and the return held at every step up. The one idea I never got through was building campaigns and site categories around trades, everything a carpenter needs, everything a plumber needs, and I still think it would have worked."
A channel that opens buying journeys rather than closing them will always look smaller in an analytics tool than it is in the business. Checking Meta’s purchases against the store’s own orders gave us the confidence to grow spend twenty-five times over while ROAS stayed far above target. Growth stopped at the ceiling the client set, not at the limit of the channel.
